Well, heres how it happened, from start to end. Ok, so i was playing sim city 4 on my computer and decided to restart my computer, it was getting a bit slugish. So i restart and and that blue error screen showed up. It said if it was the first time i seen it, just restart, and all well be fine. So i try to restart, and the same thing happened, so i tryed again, no luck. So i decided that only thing to do is reinstall windows. So i pop in my windowsXP Professional CD, and press enter and agree to the liscence, and go through that all, and then it rebooted. Then instead of continuing to install, it just restarted the install. So i tryed reinstalling it again, and it tryed continuing the install but i got that blue error screen again. So i try again, and it just restarts the install. I have been trying to install it for already 8 hours and it just wont go. So I had my LindowsOS 4.0 CD on hand so i installed it so i could get some help. But i really, really despise LindowsOS 4.0 so i really want WindowsXP Professional Back. Please help ASAP.
PS: This is not my first time installing Wndows XP Professional, i have many other times, and i havent had any problems. Also i have got that same blue screen before, i dont remember what it had on it, and i just had to reinstall and all was fine.

1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Ok, so basically just try repairing it? Also that press any key to boot from CD dont show up anymore :S

=\ Now its gone really gone wrong, Some how my setup got changed since the last time i tryed installing windows XP PRO. The press any key to boot from CD message dont show up anymore it just go to a black screen and loads from there, also the repair windows xp option aint there either. ( I think it's because you have to have a running version all setup and everything so u can repair it. ) Anyone wanna help? I really hate Lindows and i aint got no game on it and none will install on it. :(

I know this is going to sound nuts but try a different install disk. I find if i install os with same disk to many times it stops working. I know it sounds nuts but a couple other techs I know have reported same observation.

Do you mean try burning it to a new disk, or like a whole new operating system like windows 2000 Professional? How could a disk get worn out any way? lol Please reply back soon.

I'm having a similar prob. When XP Pro gets done installing the initial drivers, the status bar displays "starting windows", and then it hangs up. I have tried to install XP Home and it does the same thing. Is this problem with a setting in the BIOS or what?

after the F8 part windows will install all the files, drivers & such then it will reboot, while its rebooting remove system disk then replace it again as soon as you see windows logo splash screen and do this every time windows reboots that way it doesn't get a chane to restart, but in your case i think you first need to format hd then do as i said ok? please let me know if that works.

THtas the problem i haveing, the windows logo spalash aint showing up, no matter what i do. This isn't my 1st time installing windows, i no what to do. =\

Ok, i have found the problem. =D Now all i need is you guys to fix it. Ok, so i had a feeling it was the Daemon tools hardware i installed. So i pop my disk in, after i reburnt it, and go to repair console or what ever its called. Type in disable Daemon. Bang, i found it. It said that the registery was found and it did exsist but it couldnt find anything for the program to work, since i formatted, And it said if i was having problems restarting and starting up, this is why. So how do i get it out of my registery? Why is it in my registery? I thought once you format its gone. :s Do i have to dlownload a bot disk and clear EVERYTHING? Please help.
