Does anyone know what this program is? I cannot find it searching this forum; google does not find it on the web.

My system has periods of activity that interfere with whatever I am doing at the time. WNCMS~1.exe is tge active process when it happens.

Try using the search for files or folders in the start menu. Once you find the path to it, you may be able to identify it. The ~1 means it has tried to run in DOS. It could be a Windows program attempting to run as a DOS program, and that could be what the problem is.

I would try the search except for the sad fact that one of my earlier posts was an attempt to resolve the problem of search files and folders does not work. The only response I got to that post suggested TweakUI; however, there is no mention of search in any of the menus and lists displayed by the XP version of TweakUI.
