Hey guys, it seems I have ran into another problem. I can't seem to get away from dumb little problems that drive me nuts. Here is the problem. Whenever I try to open any media object inside a web broswer, it doesn't play it. Windows Media Player works fine outside the browser, with no problems, but it is any site that I try to view media objects within the web page, it doesn't work. I am using WMP 10 and Internet Explorer. Usually when I open a media object in IE, the media files uses the new style WMP controls, but now it reverts back to the old WMP block style, and the stop and play buttons are grayed out. Does anybody have any suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Not sure if you are having the same problem as I have. I have a "cannot create directshow player" everytime I tried to play a stream in browsers, be it IE or firefox. The player works well in standalone mode, I've search elsewhere and it said I will need to repair window by using repair function in the installation disk, not sure if it works since I do not have time to try it yet

There is apparently a problem with WMP10. Most people I know who have upgraded to WMP10 and have gone back to an earlier version, because of many and varied problems with the newer version.

Thanks for the hint, yes it was version 10' problem. I think it has more to do with upgrading from previous version using "check update", maybe it is because of the numerous codecs that I've installed or maybe it is just MS program glitch I don't know but after dowmloading the full version 10 and installing again, the problem went away. Thanks.

I had the same problem....actually still have it. I tried rolling back to WMP 9 and that didn't work. I'm trying to reinstall 10 now. I'll see if it works.
I did have the exact same problem though. Plays everything fine off my computer, but when I try playing something from the web in my browser (tried IE & Firefox), it would come up and say "Ready." I'd click play and it was flash "Opening Media" for about a 1/10 of a second and then just revert to the "Ready" stage.

Well, I have had WMP 10 for quite some time and it has not presented a problem thus far. I did install Adobe Photoshop 7.0, and it seemed to not want to work after that, even though that should have nothing whatsoever to do with it. But as far as streaming, it won't ever start, it sets there with the WMP splash screen and the old style buttons, but nothing can ever play. Any suggestions?
