Comment:

Yesterday I have completely reinstalled my computer. I
have made a back-up of my MP3-files, which were all
working fine in Media Player 9. Now, after the
reinstallation, an error occurs when playing an MP3-file.
It needs a codec to play the file, and it tries to
download it.The following messages occur:

- Opening media.
- Locating codec server.
- Connecting to codec server.
- Sending request.

And eventually:

An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine
if this codec is available to download from the Web,
click Web Help.

So I click on webhelp, which refers to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/PLAYER/WEBHE
LP/DEFAULT.ASPX?ID=C00D10D1&codec=55

On that page, you are referred to another page, there I
find:

The codec you are missing is not available for download
from this site. You might be able to find it on another
site by searching the Web for "55" (this is the
WaveFormat or FourCC identifier of the codec).

I don't understand! Before I reinstalled my computer,
Media Player worked fine and could download all codecs
which were needed and could play all my files.

I'm hoping somebody out there can help me. ;) I
appreciate your help. Thanks!

If if was WMP9 there is a patch WMPlayer 9 Fix
Maybe just uninstall and re-install WMP10 again, some files might have gotten corrupted in the installation.
Hope That Helps
