WMP changes order of saved mp3s

Comment:
WMP 9 changes the order (play order) of mp3s saved on my HDD. To maintain original order of tracks off CD, I had Nero put a track # in front of each track title.
That solved the problem of Nero burning them out of order to another CD. But if I use WMP to play those saved mp3s on the HDD, I watch as it loads them into WMP - IN ORDER WITH THEIR TRACK # - then, it promptly discards the track #'s and rearranges the order to its liking.???
Also, when mp3 tracks from the HDD are played w/ WMP, the date & time the file was modified CHANGES to the date and time that WMP played it???
