Comment: I use WMP 11 to rip my cd’s then move the files to a portable device. When I rip an audio book for example, which has multiple cd’s and the file names are the same, WMP wil overwrite the cd’s I ripped. How can I avoid this? Once ripped, WMP wont let me rip them again even if I delete these cd’s from the library. Also, in WMP’s library, the file names displayed are not consistent and when I rename them, they do not stick. Refreshing the library does not work here either when I tell it to update the changes. If I am correct, WMP is using the file name that is embedded, and does not care what I rename them to. What do I need to do to solve these issues? Thanks.

Reply: (edit)RobertEL, just a thought (dunno for sure it'll work) What if you put the rip in a seperate folder (either by downloading directly or moving) and THEN rename and move back to the WMP archive? Seems to me that WMP would then think it was something new and be happy with it. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Reply: (edit)Ed, I have tried that and dont know why but WMP seems to not forget what it once saw. So I am using AudioGrabber. Problem is, WMP still wants to rip when a cd is inserted even tho I unchecked that option. Weird and aggravatiing when WMP comes up each time.
