WM and Realplayer wont play Mpeg

Hi,
Recently I wanted to view a new feature of Microsoft which allowed a sort of photo album to be viewed in Windows Media player. SO I installed the Coded that it needed but now it wont play Mpeg video! I tried Real Player and it wont either! What comes out is a distorted kind of lines on the screen with no apparent picture of any kind...
I think that this caused it, but I cant be certain since it is possible that it didnt work before this after something else that I may have done...
The strange thing is that every other player besides WM and Real can play all file formats no problem...

Forget it, I dont know what happened but it now works fine. The problem was that the output looked basically like when you try to play a pal video on a ntsc player- just lines and no picture... But now its fine (no clue why)
