I'm trying to install a Belkin FSD 6230-3 Wireless Router with Windows XP. I can't get the cable modem signal past the router to windows so I can access the Internet using IE explorer. I think this is a router set-up issue. Anyone know step by step what I need to do in Windows XP to setup the router?
I appreciate your help.

Well u should have a manual with ur router which would explain the setup procedure.
But normally, u would open IE and type http://192.168.0.1 to open the router configuration page.
Then u would enter ur ISP logon details to er... logon !!
Ensure ur network adaptor is setup to get IP addy automatically (from the router's DHCP), and u should be connected !!
Hope this helps.....

Well, I'm famous (or infamous) in this forum for asking blind-dumb questions so be patient with me, okay?
>Did you install the wireless NIC cards and run the installation drivers software for each nic card in each computer you want to network?
>Did you use a patch cable to link the router into one computer (usually the closest to your ISP cable) and install the router software on that computer?
>once you do that, the rest should pretty much be automatic. Xp is really great for networking.

You also have to set up each PC to run on the network (LAN)-- the XP network wizard makes this a pretty simple task. (Also, you don't need to link either PC to the router with ethernet cable if you want an all wireless LAN. With wireless, though, you will have to install the utility that comes with the router in each wireless PC.)

Additional: You may not have to run individual nic card software, depending on the manufacturer. Many times XP will detect the wireless nic and auto configure it. With D-Link, you log onto a website and D-Link auto installs & configures straight from the website.
