Hi, I recently set up a Belkin Wireless Router, for my laptop.
I keep finding these logs in the security log and was wondering if someone can explain them to me ?
I have everything Firewalled, set for only MAC Addresses that I have entered can connect and I am running SP2 on both Laptop and Desktop machines.
In particular, it's the " Thu Jan 1 00:00:04 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP " that I'm intersted in !

Here is part of the log file !

System log:
Thu Jan 1 00:00:04 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:00:07 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:00:10 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:00:13 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:00:16 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:00:19 1970 -WAN DHCP Client Connected IP xx.xx.xx.xx
Thu Jan 1 00:28:44 1970 - xxx.xxx.x.x logout
Thu Jan 1 00:28:48 1970 - xxx.xxx.x.x login
Thu Jan 1 00:32:17 1970 - xxx.xxx.x.x logout

Skeck,

All this means (Wan dhcp client connected ip) is that the router has obtained an ip from your isp.

The Client login messages are telling you that one of your computers has logged in to the router interface page.

Thanks
Why is it saying " Thu Jan 1 00:00:07 1970 " ?

That is the default date it gives when first booted up. If you go into system settings, you will find the date & time there, which can be set.

Thanks very much !
Have set the time and date, but it still shows " Thu Jan 1 00:00:07 1970 ".
As long as it's not a problem

It would show that, but im sure if you clear those old logs and start afresh, the new ones will show the correct date :)
