Hi,
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this problem.
When my PC boots into Win XP it takes almost 1minute to load
the wireless network icon into the system tray. All the other icons load up and then XP just sits there and
about 1minute later it eventually loads up the wireless icon.I can still use my pc while I am waiting but obviously I can’t access
the internet until the wireless icon appears and connects. The strange thing is that it never used to take this long, its just been
like this for the past 6months, but now it has really started to bug me.I have tried disabling the Ethernet ports so that it is just the
wireless that is being used, as I thought it could be that the computer
was searching to see if there was a hardwired connection to the Ethernet ports. But this did not help.I have also gone through my start-up programs and thinned them out to the
bare minimum, but once again this has not helped at all.
If anyone has any ideas what else I could try or why this long wait
occurs I would be very grateful.

Hi,
I have an ASUS connection manager load
at the same time my wireless network icon
appears in the system tray.
(I am not sure of the exact program name
as I am not at my home pc at the moment.)But when I last opened it up, on one of the screens
was an option to turn ON or OFF
Windows Zero configuration and I am sure it
is currently turned OFF. (but will check again tonight).Could the ASUS program be causing the problem?

Hi again,
Now I am home I have looked at
the ASUS connection program and its called:
"ASUS WiFi-AP Solo"And can confirm that the Windows Zero Config
is currently Disabled.
