I used to use a wireless keyboard but it was stolen, so I tried to connect a corded keyboard but the computer won't pick it up, so I can't get into my computer by entering the password as the keys aren't repsonding, please help...

As long as your computer is shutoff, you can plug in any keyboard and it will work when you turn the computer on. If that isn't happening, you probably have a broken keyboard.

Thanks for the reply, but I have two corded key boards and neither of them work on that computer, so it seems it must be something else.

Is it a PS/2 connector (round and usually purple) or a USB connection? If it's a PS2 connector, are you sure you have it connected to the keyboard port, and not the mouse port? Can you use the keyboard before Windows loads, such as to access the BIOS settings?

It is a purple PS/2 connection, i definately put it in the purple plug, the mouse plug is green.
No the keyboard won't work to enable me to enter my password to get into the computer :(

Try to find a USB keyboard then. Keyboards are literally "plug and play". If you can't get the one you have to work to enter the BIOS, that means there is a hardware problem with either the keyboard or the computer. It sounds like you've ruled out the keyboard, so your computer's motherboard has a problem. Since the PS2 and USB ports are controlled by different chips, it's liky that a USB keyboard will work, even if PS2 keyboards don't.
