Hello everybody! I need your help....again! I just purchased Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop(Wireless keyboard and mouse). It says I need to insert the disk that came with it to install software or whatever. Anyway, when I insert the disk my computer seems to begin to read it then it stops. When I attempt to start setup through "run", my PC just freezes. Any way that I try to open the disk for it to run my computer freezes and everything on my desktop magically disappears and stays like that until I eject the disk. My computer meets all the requirements for the product. What is happening? Do I need to go to the device manager and uninstall my current keyboard, or what? HELP ME!!! I just spent some good money on this thing and I do not want to get in my car and drive all the way back to the store. I just want it to work! Thanks in advance everybody, I always find my answers here!!! You guys rock!!

Does your CD drive read other disks without any problems? If the system is locking up even before the software has been loaded I would suspect either a defective CD drive or a defective CD disk.

Okay I checked if the drive works with another cd and it does, also, I checked the cd with My brother's computer and it did run. But when I insert it into my computer, after it seems to stop working, it seems to be making faint clanking noises...what is going on here?

ham30 has a good idea. Go to MS website and download the software and install it on your computer. Then shutdown, disconnect the old and connect the new, reboot and let windows configure the hardware.

Cool. Should have done that in the first place. It worked....I downloaded the software from their website and everything seems to work. Any particular reason why the CD would work on another computer and not mine? My CD drive is also working cause I tried another CD. I just think that was pretty weird. Thanks guys!!!
