i reinstalled windows xp professional on my laptop now my wireless icon is gone what do i need to do to to get it back where do i go

re-install the wireless drivers and software .
go to manufacturer's website and look under support/downloads/drivers/your computer/your operating system> pick the network adapter and wireless adapter driver files and download them to the desk top and install them.
if the wireless adapter is installed and you just want the icon replaced.....start > all programs > wireless software and right click and choose to create shortcut....the icon will be installed to your desktop....drag and drop to taskbar.

If you just want the icon back, start>>connect to>>show all connections. After that right-click your wireless connection, and check Show icon in notification in area when connected
Or if your driver isnt detected, like you cant use the network, then i suggest you verify that you have got a copy of your wireless driver, then goto my computer(right-click)>>Manage. Select your wireless driver and click uninstall (on the top). After uninstalling, restart the computer and then re-install from the original driver. Restart again before trying to use it..
