"also have application recovery cd anddriver recovery cd".

Are both those disks home brewed or from an OEM maker?

You should have a recovery partition on your hard drive that can be accessed by using the correct keystroke/s at start up. Watch the screens at start up to learn what keystrokes or check your manual.

"...how do you boot from disk to install?..."

Since you don't know the answer to that question, I very strongly suggest you get some knowledgeable 'start-to-finish' help for the project you have in mind.

But, the "version 3 for iphone" just might have another solution, other than a full OS re-install, which very well may not resolve the problem anyway. It might be wise to re-think your strategy...
