WinXP won't install on KT7-Raid

I am trying to install WinXP Pro on my system. I have an Abit KT7-Raid w/latest bios. During the install I load the Raid device driver (F6). When I get the screen to select a partition it all goes wrong. I attempt to create a partition but am not given a partition type as an option (this is odd). So I create the partition. It is then labled []. Then when I select the newly created partition to install too, Windows says that it has to install some files to continue the installation (ok), and continues with the message "however, the disk does not contain Windows XP-compatible partition." Why not? Windows was the one that created it. So I tried a different angle. I used Partition Magic v7 (XP-Compatible) and created a primary NTFS partition. Went through the initialization and tried to select the afore mentioned partion, same problem. Any idea's from anyone would be most appreciated. Makes no sense. TIA!!

I had a similar but not identical problem with a system config very similar to what you have so her are some things to consider. Go to the Abit site and down load and use the Hipoint drive, I believe it is 2.0.1019. Be sure to begin pressing F6 before the install tells you to do so and use this driver. A secondary problem might be associated with any other HD, such as a zip. Delete and then recreate the RAID array and physically disconnect any other HD from the Mobo. Run FDIK from a boot disk to see how your HD's are configured since the XP must be installed on the 0 disk. You may have to reformat before XP installs. Hope this gives you some ideas.
