I think that some things (maybe also CD-burning) are not jet supported by WinXP.
I'm not sure about this, but in Whistler I know that you cannot even connect to internet :)

BTW. May I ask where did you get WinXP, because I'm looking for them for 1 week now?

Thanx

http://computers.lycos.com/downloads/dindex.asp
and searched for wnaspi32.dll think i found three copies and one of them worked like a charm with cdrwin.

I haven't tried this on XP yet, but I have used it with Win2k, which is probably the closest OS.

If you look in the documentation about XP and the new features, XP as a built-In cd-writer software integrated in Explorer. So no need for extra burning software and that be why your burning software doesn't work anymore, no need for thoses extras dll (ASPI)

Please let me know where I can have a copy of the beta XP to download via cable modem I'm registred for july only so if any have...

I have been using WinXp 2465 Beta 2 and there are still bugs. Yes it has a built in burner but doesn't always burn correctly - it seems to have problems with multiple data files when burning and doesn't actually burn them even though it says it does. Adaptec or Roxio burning software doesn't work the greatest either. You can use the wnaspi32.dll off of Nero's website this will let you install it.

A reply to the last response you can download it in newsgroups along with everything else out there.

Other than the burning issue. I think Microsoft finally did something right but I suppose they have to because they are in competition with apple. once again.....

I thought you guys were supposed to be techies? First off, if you really want WinXP, find someone who will burn you a copy or go to an IRC channel and download it. If you can't find it early, then obviously you don't deserve it.

Second, just because M$oft integrated a cd-burner program into their WinBlows software, DOES NOT MEAN that you don't have to have third party software. M$oft, even as thick-skulled and monoplized as they are, know this. There are different burn programs for different things. And this is supposed to be a tech board?

And lastly, the reason CDRWIN does not work in XP natively is because it does not come with the ASPI Manager, just as the error says. It's just a couple freakin .dll files, so download them and install them and there is your fix!

Oh, and BTW, XP is their most stable system yet.. even if it does suck.. Get linux if you really want to get anything done...

Whoopy doo! I have 2600 and it still does not have ASPI support. The "built-in" burner in XP doesn't burn bin/cue or other formats. As far as most of the ASPI dll's I've found, they might work wonders for a SCSI burner... but none of them will let CDRWin see the IDE burner. Just a case of Microsloth trying to keep the competition off XP for CD burning. Someone is going to have to spank Bill like the red-headed punk he is!!

Yes, I agree with Aurora completely (reply number 7) I have WinXP Pro Corporate ed final release, and it has the most beautiful CD writing software, the problem lies in the fact that i want to write an existing ISO image to disk, and WinXP does not support that. therefore i need those .dll files everyone's talking about, any idea where i can get them, what they are, and where they have to go? (note i've had problems with 3.8F)
