torrie, For the start button follow the instructions at the link below.

Make sure you read the entire page before fiddling with it.

Change Text on XP Start Button

For the Control Panel do a google search for change name of control panel windows xp and you may find soething.

Buddy, I told you the exact instructions in your post "xp problems". You replied saying that you want a simple answer:

Simple Answer: There is no simple answer.

There is only one way of doing this, and I described the procedure in my previous post. If you are a novice user, do not attempt to change the name of the Start Menu or Control Panel.

This is a "Easy" way to change StartButton name and pic...TClock: its a tray Clock.
Install and go to Tclock properties/Taskbar/customize Start button...
