Comment:

I have Win98 installed on first partition and WinXP on the second one. After installing WinXP SP1 the defragmentation of the second partition (NTFS) continues to say that the drive needs defragmentation and never states that the drive is OK even after each defrafmentation.
Is this a bug in SP1?

if you have win98 on fat32 and xp on ntfs you need to start over.
both systems in a dual boot must be fat32, to work properly

You don't need to start over. A dual boot with Win98 and WinXp will work fine using both fat32 and ntfs.

I used to run Win98 in a dual boot with Win2000 on a ntfs formatted drive. Win98 won't even know WinXp is there but Xp will see the Win98 drive without a problem.

I've been running Sp1 since a week before it went public and I never have and problem with Xp's defragmenter. Have you tryed running chkdsk on that drive?
