Hi there,
I got this problem at home, when I login into
windows XP. It takes at least 3 minutes to go through
the "Apply Secuity Setting", "Apply personal Setting"
Dialog.
I had 3 XP workstations at home. And another
windows 2000 Server which host the domain. All 3
XP stations takes a long time to go though the login
window. Wondering if this has to do with my server
or the XP settings.

Thanks.

You could try this: Windows/prefetch/ delete everything in there, that should speed things up a little.

If you are running them on a 2000 Active Directory you need to set the first DNS to the IP of your 2000 server.

In response to Harry Who.

Yes that works nicely until you reboot and the prefetch folder has been repopulated again.

I Have this same problem, and i still didnīt
figure this out !! Next Friday (25/4 ) i will
strike this problem on my Lab and i will report any progress.
One thing is sure, the machine with the
Windows XP have Dual boot to WinMe and this one is very fast loging into the 2000 Domain,
With the same hardware and network cable conections, so it canīt be hardware problems !!

The problem is due to the DNS configuration.
In fact if you have a Internet Provider and are only using DNS entries to that provider, the system first checks the Internet and may have difficulty login to your LAN Domain. Use as first DNS entry the IP Address of your W2000 Server for better performance.
