hey technical doodz...
i just recently installed windows xp pro, and it boots incredibly slow. going from 98->me->2k->xp my boot time has increased to an annoying level. so what do i do to speed this up? xp was supposed to be a 30-second boot... not happening. i already set that one value from 30 to 0... and sometimes it gets stuck at a blue screen, where i can ctrl+alt+del and it finishes loading. wtf?
any ideas?
thanks

I dont think windows can survive after so many plastic surgeries...so dont make your winodows suffer and let it clear install? btw, u can use WinXP CD for back up your files and restore them after install XP.

Yes, please format and clean install. WinXP loads in under 9 seconds for me. Of course I have a pretty fast Harddrive, but this is much faster than I had ME or 2000 boot.

Hello Benny

You say that from a reset or cold start your computer is ready to go in 9secs. How long does it take from the time you power up from a cold start to the time you can can open up MY COMPUTER>
