Hi..

I got some serious shutdown/restarts problems..

From a motherboard monitor on XP, i can't see any unstable temp., even though my computer restarts..

I tried installing SP2, with no luck.. I also tried a new cpu cooler, that should cool up to AMD 3000.. but that didn't help at all..

I tried disabling the automaticaly restarts on system error, on the system setup..

I also tried:

"Right-click on the My Computer icon, then on the pop-up menu left-click on Properties, then the Advanced tab, then Startup and Recovery, then click on the Settings button, and then find the check box labelled Automatically restart and make sure it is unchecked. When that box is checked, your PC will restart when Windows problems occur, but you will not get an error message (which is usually very helpful in finding the problem). It's a lot easier to work on the problem if you know what it is!"

..

"I am also had random reboots but my problem was simple, so try this and yours may also be simple...type in the run window SFC /scannow, I had 2 corrupt files (log files) I no longer have that problem, it may not fix yours but will not hurt to try. I also have SP2, but had the problem before that so I knew it was not sp2."

The glu that lies between the cpu and cooler fan, is it important that it lies perfectly on the surface of the cpu??

Anything else I should try??

Could the cpu be defected?

Please help me on this issue!

Thanks alot!

a siren sound on what board this is usually overheating.

what is the temp of your cpu check it in bios health check.
if its over 55-60 then its unusual
i have a 2500+ overclocked to 2.2ghx and it only runs at 46C full load

far beyond how hot. dont run it cause you'll damage your cpu i'm sure your cpu maxes at 90c

is the heatsink seated properly.

you should apply a small amount of cpu paste
check out these sites

http://compreviews.about.com/od/tutorials/ss/DIYCPU_5.htm
http://www.ping.be/~pin12042/images/other/cpu_with_thermal_paste.jpg

i'd guess you made an error with the paste. did you plug the fan into the mobo. also is the metal on the heatsink hot.??

I am having a problem similar to this. After I turn on and use my computer it will shutdown unexpectedly after about 10 minutes. It doesnt give any warning or sound it just shuts off. The only way I can turn it back on is to switch the voltage on the powersupply from 115 to 230 then switch it back again. My CPU usually runs around 50C to 60C. Here are my specs:
