Well, long story short, I'm using WinXP Home that I got from work since a couple computers came with Home Edition but were later upgraded to Pro. So, since we had a few copies lying around that were 100% legit, and unregistered. I decided to put one to use on my Home PC for the short term while I decided what to do with my home PC's OS.
Since I'm not sure how legal this is/was, I'm wanting to buy a copy of XP Pro for myself. Are the Ebay auctions a decent place to get one from? I know the issues surrounding buying off of Ebay, and how many people get scammed. But, they're literally a hundred dollars cheaper than the standard release. I know most are OEM releases with SP2 on Ebay, but that doesn't bother me.
All I want is to be able to patch my copy of XP Pro legitimately. I'm in Canada, so, I'd be buying off of ebay.ca. There are quite a few auctions for XP Pro SP2 OEMs.
So, is it ok to buy an unregistered, OEM copy? Or, is it too risky?
I've bought off of Ebay twice, and got what I paid for both times, so I'm not totally against buying off of Ebay.

Ebay in my opinion is the safest website on the internet, be it in the uk or there in canada, Yes you do get scams on there which isn't very often, I recently bought computer components from different sellers on ebay in the UK to build myself a computer system, and got everything exactly how it was described. All i did when i bought from ebay was made sure they all had 100% feedback rating or near the 100% mark.
As for the OEM versions they are safe, as OEM version are just the same as a retail version but without the fancy packaging and high price.
