My modem works great after a fresh reboot of windows xp, but if i lose the connection and try to redial it will not connect. I have to then restart the computer and the modem then works fine. I have tried 2 different modems in my computer and the same thing happened both times. I now have a creative external hooked up using win2000 drivers it seems to work fine but like i said will not reconnect until a restart. Any one out there ever heard of this? TIA
Is your windows XP updated? Just curious cuz it might of been an issue that microsoft has corrected..Has it been doing this all the time? What kinda computer u runnin? I know its hard to find drivers for XP/2000 but u say u have 2 other internals? I would look for win2000 or XP drivers on there websites all day if i had to...If u dont know the site off hand do searches on google.com or ask around..Never heard of TIA but if they dont have XP/2000 drivers I would move on to a modem that is XP compatible and get rid of the mess..Dialup is the worst connection possible but i would start by updateing XP to see if that does it..Then go from there...good luck

TIA means "thanks in advance" I am running winxp professional in a p4 1.6, home built computer. I have done the latest windows updates and the problem still persist. I actually have a decent connection to the net with dial up and i cant see paying $50 / month for dsl or cable. I had an internal modem before and was using drivers designed for xp and i still could not reconnect after losing my connection till i restarted the computer. Any suggestions?
thanks TIA :)

OK i fixed the problem by deleting my dial up connection and then I created an new one and for some reason it now works. There may have been a setting or something i had wrong in the last dial up connection and making a new one has fixed it. Thanks!
