XP insists on installing the wrong modem driver as below:
info was obtained by Device manager's interigation of the modemModem type: Sportster MessagePlus Pro V90 PnP
Modem inf path: mdmusrg.inf
Modem inf section: Modem10which also provided:
ATI3 - U.S. Robotics 56K Pro Msg Ext 12.2.8
ATI4 - U.S. Robotics 56K Professional Message
which is the corect identification of the modemI have tried removing the modem from Device manager and then using Control Panel Add Hardware but
this insists on finding the modem and and identifying it as
Sportster MessagePlus Pro V90 PnP
If I try to update the driver by pointing at the correct inf file "mdmusrmo.inf"
I get the following report "The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software currently installed"As windows wizard incorrectly identifies the modem is it possible to bypass the wizard and manually set the correct modem type as
U.S. Robotics 56K Professional Message
and then update the driver?Assistant Registrar

Have you tried installing the driver that came with the modem (on floppy or CD) and installing it that way, or downloading the driver from the manufacturer's website?

Problem Solved
While BRVP Classic Phone Tools 6 takes notice of WinXP's installed driver and will not work with my modem. Not even allowing its own messages of average 7k to be downloaded to the modem stating that the max size is 30k
During Instalation SuperVoice Pro 6 interigates the modem and would seem to ignore WinXP's driver and set the modem up correctly and allowed me to download a message of 40,464k.
Well done SuperVoice
