Hi, i've got a laptop with a pentium 3 processor and 256mb of ram. The problem is that i wanna install winxp but my cdrom drive has a lot of problems reading the installation cd. I was wondering if there's some way i can install winxp without the cd, for instance by creating an image of the cd. But, if i make an image, how do i mount it in dos?. I'll accept and appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Have u tried setting the cd to boot first in the BIOS? Also try using a win 98 boot disk and accessing the cd there by promting the setup command, alternitvly get some to make you an XP boot disk, however this takes something silly like 9 floppy disks, but contains core windows setup file. Is your copy of xp legitimate as dodgy copies have problems reading.
