Ok ive just got a new maxtor 160gb HD and started to do a fresh install of XP but in the when i try to try to to create a partition of the drive i notice that it only says i have 130162mb but for a 160gb drive i should have 168340. I tried another 160GB maxtor drive and the same problem occurs. The bois detects the drive to have 160gb so its a problem with xp.

There is a limitation of what some mother boards can see. currently it is @ 137GB, so you will either need a bios update for your board, or run it on a seperate pci controller to see the full 160GB

Windows XP does not natively support drives over 137GB unless you have SP1 integrated into your installation CD.
