i have winxp running on my laptop and my desktop...
i have ics running and working...sharing a dial-up connection on my desktop to my laptop...however, when i first setup winxpICS, i had, on my client(laptop), an icon for internet gateway...some of you know what im talking about...
now, on my client(laptop), i dont see that icon anymore...
the dial-up connection on my desktop is still being shared perfectly find, and DHCP is working just fine, but i dont have my remote gateway icon, so i cannot control my server's(desktop) dial-up connection (connect or disconnect)
this comes as a problem because if im sitting in my bed with my laptop and want to disconnect from the internet before i sleep, i have to get up and walk to my desktop to do it, or rather, use remote desktop to go in and disconnect it...
i read on praticallynetworking.com that the gateway will only show if i use the network setup wizard...which ive done, and no resolve
i have also tried to reinstall all communications on my laptop and desktop, no good...
im assuming there's a certain procedure i have to do to get that gateway there...
someone please tell me how, or why this is happening

Hi! I have a similar setup, though I'm on a college LAN.
Desktop computer: Open the "Network Connections" folder in the control panel. Then right click, Properties on the connection you are sharing. Click the advanced tab, and you should see a checkbox for "Allow other network users to control or disable the shared internet connection" Check that box.
Please post back if it works or not
