Comment:

whenever I boot or reboot my computer it goes through the bios, ram check, etc., I see the XP splash screen and then it goes to black for 3-4 minutes and then it opens to the desktop without any errors or messages. Any ideas why this is hanging for so long?

I recommend running BootVis
On its Trace Menu, choose Next Boot. Click OK and your computer should reboot ... and should generate a log file showing the cause of any delays.

Also, visit www.blackviper.com; some tips might help with boot time.

Good luck
