I am trying to instal WinXP, but after it has formatted the HDD+rebooted to install Windows, it hangs when it is trying to 'install devices'. I have got an Abit KG7-Lite motherboard-I succesfully downloaded+installed the latest BIOS drivers for it. I then removed all additional hardware and only had my HDD,floppy,CDROM and graphics card (Abit, NVid T400) attached while during installation. I went on the microsoft website + noticed that my AGP or motherboard isn't on their recommended hardware list, but what is causing this problem and how can I get to install windows with out it hanging?

Hi Simon, I would recommend that u do the next: 1- check your processor temprature. make sure it is not high. this is most of the time the reason of halting or auto rebooting. 2- check your memory chip(s), (better if u removed the one(s) in your system, and put another working one(s)). 3- Check your VGA card, (better if u removed the one in your system, and put another working one "I would prefer an PCI one"). I tried the points above: 1-The processor is well within the operational temperature range. 2-I have two lots of 256Mb and tried with just one of each in. 3-Used a PCI graphics card. The computer still hangs. Any other suggestions please?!
