Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3,
For unknown reasons WinXP will freeze at login , but restarting seems to fix the problem...
System is updated including drivers, the computer itself is working properly with no overheating, have virus and spyware scanned and found nothing, have read a multitutde of previous posts that even looked remotely close to the subject and tried some of the suggestions with no result. Implemented the WinXP CD and ran the recovery console: chkdsk /r and fixmbr to no avail, besides a reinstall are there any other potential fixes for this problem or no?

Windows updates often cause problems, as do some driver updates. Try removing the Windows updates (one at a time) to see if this solves your problem.
Or, you could try a System Restore to a date prior to the onset of this problem.

Have tried everything from reinstalling winxp, turning everything off, uninstalling programs, turned off user account password, replacing cmos battery, nothing works. It even freezes in safe mode and freezes in the recovery console while using chkdsk /r/f, no matter what I do it freezes. It will usually freeze within about 10 minutes and then it locks up the system to the point that you have to reboot only to have it freeze again.
