Hi everyone,
Some days ago I noticed that the process WINWORD.exe is running in my process list (within task manager) and I don't know why.
I am NOT running Microsoft Word or anything... and this thing only appears all of a sudden. It has a Mem. Usage = 14,268 pretty much all the time.
I can kill the process and it will be gone, however it is pretty annoying knowing that it is right there. I doubt very much that I have an infection in this computer :)
Anyways... anyone has any idea of this?
Let me know. Thanks.

Well yes, it's a name for the Microsoft WORD application, but doesn't mean it is. It could be a porn server, warez bot, or something else.
If you are well-versed in tracking down processes and killing them, and such I would recommend that you pslist your system and determine what spawned this application in the first place.

Thanks for the reply but I found the problem.
I just installed the latest Outlook 2003 and it uses an option to check your spelling mistakes while you type an email. And well, it obviously uses word to check those spelling mistakes, so that is why the process is showing in the background.
Thanks anyways.
