Well, I would like to think that MS is going to put some of the Winternals software into their products. I remember when Symantec bought out Peter Norton and watered down his stuff. If you don't know Winternals, it is a small company that has more than a few apps to get your admin work done by 5 o'clock. They offer a ton of free gadgets too. One of their blogs warned us of the rootkits.

Title "Winternals bought by MS" should have been written as "Winternals and Sysinternals bought by MS".

Both sites are extremely busy. I guess those who know them are downloading all the free utilities. The owner Mark Russinovich have joined MS as a technical fellow in the Platform and Services Division. There are only 14 Technical Fellows in the entire M$ hierarchy.

I didn't want to say it but yes, you had better get any downloads before they go offline. Can't say what will happen with the admin pack. Might just go into the Windows PE 2.0

I'd rather suspect that sysinternals will remain the project of Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell. I'd suspect that they will be needing some time to find some place to put all that money first.

What a shame - Winternals' flagship software ERD Commander V5 is no longer available for free download. Winternals withdrew it after learning that Best Buy's Geek Squad abused the license terms in that Geek Squad distributed to all their Geek Squad employees. They have since settled the lawsuit before trial & before M$ bought Winternals.
