Ok, here's my problem. I recently did a complete fresh install of win xp pro, with a brand new hard drive. Ever since i have been using my new hard drive, extracting files such as a 4 gig dvd it takes way longer than it used to. Roughly four times longer!! It used to only take around 15 minuts!! My hard drive is running in dma mode 5, so i know its running correctly. The problem is my cpu is not even trying to extract it!! It stays right at 1 or 2 % in task manager. I have reinstalled windows 3 different times, but did not help. I even tried 7zip, winace, and tugzip to no avail! Every other program on my computer is running nice and fast. I only have the big slow problem when extracting files!! Ive scanned my hard drive with several diagnostic programs and everything is fine. I have been trying to figure this problem out for days now! I'm starting to wonder if it is a mobo problem. It just seems weird, everything is hooked up and jumpered correctly, but why so slow extracting files? Help me someone!!

You should use some thing like dvd decrypter to rip the dvds. File compression software is no good for taht job.
