Users of Windows Me and Windows XP should temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, from modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools cannot remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, System Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file onto your computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all the other locations.
Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat.
For instructions on how to turn off System Restore, read your Windows documentation, or one of the following articles:

gmartinez: winlogon.exe application error
1. run Spybot S&D.
2. may be a Sasser Worm, see:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/alerts/sasser.mspx
3. winlogon.exe can be a worm in your windows system folder.
try scanning for the Netsky.C or .D virus; a removal tool can be downloaded from:http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/tools.list.html
or use CLRAV utility from kaspersky labs at:
ftp://ftp.kaspersky.com/utils/clrav/
let us know what worked for you...

gmartinez: a search for ALD.DLL turned up only one reference to a file for (apparently) an IBM BIOS.
need to flash your BIOS?
see:http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=123159
the following is a translation from the Spanish:
If you have problems for actualizr of Millenium to XP and it marks to an error or failure to you by the Bios, there are the following thing, when initiating the installation of the XP and under the screen it appears to press F6 to change to you to another contrlador presses F7 and automaticamente it ignores the ALD.DLL and you put a generico, the screen it did not show ningun report and it lets to you follow the installation, no longer aparecera you the error, when finishing the installation executes the update of the bios and follows the instructions.
accessing driverid=123159 (24jy48usa.exe) via the driverguide site in English may be more helpful.
