hi, i musta hav done something (used Powertools for winXP TweakUI) coz now the winkey+E (to open explorer) doesn't work. it says something like "due to restrictions... pls contac your administrator..." however other winkey functions still work, like winkey+F, winkey+D, winkey+L.. etc. only the winkey+E is jinxed. wonder if anyone knows what might cause this. yup i can go back and revert my TweakUI tweaks but i've done so many tweaks.. previously never had this problem. i suspect: using the Common Dialog-> Places Bar (i used custom places bar) hide drive A: hide desktop icons (including my computer) i've also done manual registry changes to hide Control Panel from explorer feedbacks welcome. thanks in advance.

Curiousity killed the cat here. I just have to know! Why would you want to hide control panel from explorer? IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE, swim with the current; in matters of principle, STAND LIKE A ROCK

:) coz i'm a customisation freak. i also do: (list not exhaustive) 1. change the drives icons 2. change some folders icons in start menu 3. clear off all icons fr desktop 4. force auto sort start menu 5. hide useless control panel applets 6. tweak MTU, rwin.. 7. tweak menu speed, clicks, mouse, etc etc 8. customise all apps i use (like arrange the buttons in certain way in Word,Excel...) 9. overhaul my documents structure 10. kill ebook 11. synch my startmenu with installation folders.. u gotta see a screeny to see wat i mean 12. crawl thru the msconfig starup tab to kill as many startups as possible 13. crawl thru the services.msc to disable as many as possible services 14. change some default icons eg .txt icons ..and many other mundane tweaks i do. hiding or getting rid of stuffs i rarely use. after few days.. provided i'm totally satisfied, i wld burn a restore disc using acronis true image 7 or powerquest drive image 2002 and marvel at the disc, which i kno i won't be using anyway. haha which leads me to another qn acutally.. my drive image2002/true image 7 both failed to properly burn HD image onto the dvd using benQ 1620Pro.. ah, will hav to seek hlep in another thread.
