WinExplorer crashes when searching

Searching 'DigCam Pics' folder contents 400 files, size Not> 3.5MB each.
Right Pane of explorer set to 'Thumbnails.
Search key: HOLS*.JPG To find all my holiday pics.
Search starts ok and slowly builds a page of thumbnails. When page is full and scroll down is used thats ok, till reaching about half way down scrollbar when explorer starts making a mess of showing pics, Bits banded horizontally, and then crashes with search not responding in blue title bar
