WindowsXP Network p2p

My computer has WinXP.Prof. We have P2P network in our section, with only a workgroup and no domain name. Others computers have either WinXP or Win98. I have 2 PCI slots/NIC cards, with one used for broadband connection from hub to which the router is plugged in. All PCs have 'always on' net and thus not interdependent. While I am able to connect to other PCs on LAN having Win.98, other PCs having Win.xp can not be accessed. What could be the problem ?

saran2sai, SWAG, since it seems to affect all the XP machines, I suspect that the problem lies in the way your LAN's set up. Sounds to me like the LAN can't/won't recognize XP machines so thet aren't available to anybody. Why? Dunno. HTH. Ed in Texas.

Make sure the xp machines have a user account on them that is the same as the one on your machine. for example:- (yourcomputer) is logged in as ED with a password. (othercomputer) create a user called ED with the same password you use on yourcomputer
This will allow you to access the other XP machines on the network, it's a permission thing. HTH
