WindowsXP doesn't finish booting up.

Specs: Windows XP
I have a Dell 4600, Aug 2004 model Dimension. The CMOS battery was removed and then replaced. (Same bios settings as before.) I rebooted; Entered setup, F2; set the Caps, Num and Scroll keys; alt+E pressed until beep; hit the ESC key; and we're back where I started from. (BIOS, I was told, is a software program that checks out your hardware before Windows is executed. I don't believe it's a BIOS problem anyway!) Windows not FINISHING it's boot is. Just what has recently gone wrong with WindowsXP boot cycle, I don't know.

Did you try F8 to get to the menu? Try last known good config or safe mode.
