I know I can fix the corrupted boot up error, but my questions is there also a hardware problem with either my motherboard or hardrive. If anyone has had this problem before, have you been able to detect an exact hardware problem?

I know that part. But I would think that there is also a hardware problem...or am I getting too in depth?

Not an upgrade, and I did not run any other OS. New computer, all components. Reading other peoples responses looks like the consensus is that the RAM is bad or the RAM slot is bad.

Could also be onboard sound or chipset (SIS?)

First I want to say that Chuck is lame and
offers no help to anyone.

I have read over ten threads where
people obviously already know how to
temporarily fix this problem but want to
know how to stop it from happening. In
each thread Chuck chimes in with his
stupid form post about that lame
Microsoft KB article. YOU AREN'T
HELPING ANYONE CHUCK.

I too am having the
windows/system32/config/system boot
problem.

I know how to repair it, but I really really
need to know how to prevent it from
happening again.
