Specs: Windows xp
I recently took my old laptop out of storage to clean it up and use it while my wife spends her time on our laptop . When I hooked it up it went imediatly to the black screen with the safe mode , lastknown good config and start windows normally screen. I have tried to load every way on here and the safe mode load options run for a sec then stop, they have a really quick error msg then back to previous black screen with load options . When i try last known good config or start normally it goes to the windows xp loading screen and loads for 45 sec or so, then flashes to the blue microsoft screen . It then shuts down and goes back to the black startup screen . I need some help ppl . If i need to completly wipe my computer clean tell me how, And if I need a new windows xp startup disk give me some tips on were to find one cheap . Thnx a bunch

Use your XP CD to boot from & when you get to a command prompt as per the link below, type this in. chkdsk C: /p /r ( note the spaces )
Chkdsk can take a long time to complete, depending on the size of the drive & how much info is on it, overnight is how I do it.

CHKDSK using the XP CD & Windows XP Recovery Console
