Specs: Windows XP
Today my laptop suddenly turned off and as I try to turn it back on, it starts to load with typic screen with computer's name. But then the screen is all black and a white _ is appearing constantly. I tried to push the F8 button but it didn't work. What should I do? I need my laptop for studies so it would be awesome to repair it fast.

The files to create the "repair CD" are on your hard drive. Unfortunately, most users don't read the documentation that comes with their computers & the disks never get made.

Before messing with your Windows installation, make sure your system isn't overheating. Overheating is a common cause of random shutdowns in laptops. Check the underside of your laptop to make sure the air intake vents aren't all clogged with dust, lint, etc. Get a can of compressed air & shoot a good blast into the vents to blow out any dust built up on the cooling fan.
