I just got a new hard drive because my other one went out so used partition magic to copy the partitions to my new hard drive ... windows me worked and booted properly ... however when i tried to boot into windows xp it starts up but at the blue windows xp screen shows up the mouse appears and moves but the desktop never apears the blue windows xp screen just stays there ... any help would be greatly appreciated

You probably lost something in the transfer. start>run and type SFC /scannow (space between c /) insert your xp disk and repair xp. that should get you going again It will not hurt any of your personal files, just repair the start up files and all. RC

Thanks guys R.C. i cannot boot into xp at all and i do not have my discs with me ( i left them at home im at my dorm right now ) wawadave I will try the recovery console again though i tried it with the floppy discs available from microsoft.com thank you
