Problem: Windows XP does not automatically shut itself down. Has to manually press the power button.

Any suggestions to allow it to do so?

You need to enable Advanced Power Management. Right-click desktop, properties, screensaver, power options, APM, and check the box. Now it should be okay. Hope this helped.
