Comment:
i use to have windows 2000 and upgraded to windws xp yesterday and i experienced slower preformance and realized my cpu was at 100% usage. I alt+ctlr+del to see wot is causing it and it is System and csrss.exe and taskmgr.exe. csrss and taskmgr uses like 5 % together and System uses 90 to 99% I noticed a few people posting this but with differant programs doing it. Can this be fixed ? i am using a Intel Veleron CPU 1.2GHz and 256 mb of ram. if you need more info please say so

I've had the exact same issue. Considering that I have a 1.5 Ghz CPU, it's a bit alarming to find anything using 100% of the resources. No solution found yet.

I have the same 100% cycle problems too. What has worked for me was restarting my computer. If you're patient enough, you can do the same. The culprits seemed to be 'vsmon.exe' (Zone Alarm), and Kazaa. Once in while, these two start acting up and everything slows down.

I've had the same problem for the last couple of days. I recently installed a cordless, infrared mouse and the first time I tried running Nero, I froze. After that it seemed to happen periodically regardless of what programs were running.
Solution: go into services and diable a bunch of the crap you don't need. Like remote registry edit and networking tools.
Also, go to Run prompt, type msconfig and choose startup tab. make sure you don't have unneccessary crap running. If you don't know what something is, search on this site or on google.com
