Subject: Windows XP Updates will not install
Comment:

After scanning Windows XP updates, make my selection, click install, it shows the download process, but it will not install.
Then, I cancel and the computer freezes. Control, Alt, Delete, will close out AOL.

Five days ago, I downloaded (2)Windows XP security files and when I tried to restart computer, in the logging off phase it froze.
Finally, after about eight minutes, it restarted on its own after not being able to do it with the power switch. Have not been able to download updates since.

David:
I have 4.40GB free hard drive space.

I was unable to perform the Memtest86. It kept telling me I had an unformatted disk in
Drive A and this was not true. Used several disks and formated the second time.

Ran BurnInTest V3.0 Pro - No errors except I didn't have CD in and got 178 errors while searching for files on data CD/DVD.
I got 279 errors on Sound, failed to play back MIDI via sequencer. I knew there was no sound when I ran the test, this is intermittant, all I have to do is retart.

After my posting, I was able to download and install Windows XP Updates from the Windows Updates Program that uses IE. I had been trying to download and install from AOL-IE and it didn't work and has worked in the past.
