i had windows 98 for a few years i decided to reformat my pc completely and install xp, i have succesfully installed it but everytime i switch my pc off it starts up and cannot find my installation of xp. i am sure its something to do with my bios settings but i need desperate help as i cant keep installing xp can anyone please help. when the system restarts the hard disk light stays on and the processor just seems to keep turning.... thanks.

Since your system is old, i guess it has something to do with the BIOS. I would check the hard drive jumpter setting, update bios, and install XP in FAT32 instead of NTFS.

Are you doing some kind of over the top install, or are you formatting the partiton and starting clean? If you format it, there will be nothing there BUT XP!
