windows xp stand by!!!

I have win xp pro and now it hangs up only if i go into stand byit shuts down ok... What can I do???

It could be the same problem as in win98...if you have a network card installed but not hooked up to anything, win98 would freeze on standby. If you do have a NIC, try removing it or hooking it up to a hub/router.
