Hi Friends,

We have created Ghost image based on Windows XP SP2. This is an Hardware Independent Image and we use this image for Models based on Dell and HP. Recently we want to upgrade our images to Windows XP SP3. After installing windows XP SP3 by using Windows Update.

Once the system reboots, we get a BSOD with error code of 0x000000A1 - Inconsistant PCI internal device. It does not even start up in safe mode also.

Initially we thought it may be a hardware issue. But the same BSOD screen came up all othe models (Dell, HP) with intel processors. Even in the VMs also the same screen. We even tried to install the standalone XP SP3 downloading manually, but the same issue persist.

Can anybody help me in this case. I need to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Note : This details may help. When we were creating the image with windows XP SP2, to make the image SATA compatible we opened the OS image by using Ghost Explorer and added the files required in the system32 folder for SATA operation of the new hardwares. We even edited the system hive of the image with the required registry changes.

Please help :(

Use xp disk and repair. Then correct any applications and sysprep.

Might be easier just to rebuild the image from scratch and be sure.
