Windows XP SP2 update hangs at 39 minutes

Specs: Windows XP, 4 gb
when i install service pack 2 it's format all... and copy all the files ....& then restart pc ...when pc restart it's tell 39 minutes remain & then don't go above what is problem .... plz tell me what to do

Why are you installing SP2. Why not just go straight to SP3?

Was this SP2 installation on a clean fresh operating system or one loaded down with old spyware etc? The warnings about making sure your system is clean of malware before running the SP install are there for a good reason.

Unfortunately you may now have hosed your system and need to format and start afresh. You may like to consider downloading the full SP3 install file and use NLITE to create your own XP install CD with SP3 included. You will need your original XP install CD in order to burn a new slipstreamed install disk.
