Reply: (edit)Ya know, "Google" is such a great, easy to use tool, it's really a shame more people don't learn to use it: Using these search words:
microsoft, xp home, "service pack 2" leads to this
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=microsoft%2C+xp+home%2C+%22service+pack+2%22
and the VERY FIRST LINK IS
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx

Reply: (edit)You can download it. But, it's a 266 MB file. If you have Hi speed internet it's ok, but if you're on dial-up, look for something like 10 HOURS or more to download! Someone lukin' around here will be able to give you the direct MS page to go to and order a CD from them. That's the best bet. Bob

Reply: (edit)You have done something wrong, go to ad and remove programs remove sp2, then do a System Restore to before xp2, then go to Windows Update and download it from there or the above link.

Reply: (edit)You go here, the link I posted: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
You go down the page just a little on the right column, says "Download SP@ from Microsoft Update"
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=3646727 (Immedidately under THAT is the link to order the free CD)
so you click on the link and go through the hoops. You'll probably have to install the lates "update software" and "ActiveX" Then, it will talk about "check for updates"
Select "Express" or "Custom"
The thing will sing, dance, and generally screw around, and when done, the "list" should show the updates, as well As SPXXX
