Ya know, "Google" is such a great, easy to use tool, it's really a shame more people don't learn to use it:

Using these search words:

microsoft, xp home, "service pack 2"

leads to this

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=microsoft%2C+xp+home%2C+%22service+pack+2%22

and the VERY FIRST LINK IS

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx

You can download it. But, it's a 266 MB file. If you have Hi speed internet it's ok, but if you're on dial-up, look for something like 10 HOURS or more to download!

Someone lukin' around here will be able to give you the direct MS page to go to and order a CD from them. That's the best bet.

Bob

It should be available for you to Download at the Windows Update Site

Alternatively you can get a free CD from Microsft here....

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

I go there and they install some windows installer and stuff like that.and now they let me install some security patches...BUT NO SP2!!?!?!

Also Arctos...the link that you gave me seem good. BUT it is for: "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers"

For IT prof. I'm using Home edition...can I still use it?

You have done something wrong, go to ad and remove programs remove sp2, then do a System Restore to before xp2, then go to Windows Update and download it from there or the above link.

You go here, the link I posted:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx

You go down the page just a little on the right column, says "Download SP@ from Microsoft Update"

http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=3646727

(Immedidately under THAT is the link to order the free CD)

so you click on the link and go through the hoops. You'll probably have to install the lates "update software" and "ActiveX"

Then, it will talk about "check for updates"

Select "Express" or "Custom"

The thing will sing, dance, and generally screw around, and when done, the "list" should show the updates, as well As SPXXX
